Tape Op Magazine has published a story about Monkeyclaus studio written by Vijith Assar in 2006. Though you can subscribe to Tape Op Magazine for free, you must back order issue#64 to get the Monkeyclaus article ($5- its worth it).

The article is great and gives an exciting look into the earlier days of Monkeyclaus and some ideas that inspired the building and fruition of our beloved studio and technology.

Tape Op Magazine was started in 1996 and has 40,000 readers in the US and 10,000 in the EU and the UK. Larry Crane founded Tape Op in April 1996. John Baccigaluppi and Larry became partners late 1999. Larry primarily is the editor and John the publisher, though they confer on most issues and John has input as to content. From 1994 to 1997 Larry ran Laundry Rules Recording, a home studio in Portland, and recorded artists like Versus, Stephen Malkmus and Cat Power in a basement studio.
